I agree SO MUCH with your analysis. I have a smartphone and don’t use it too often. I see people who are compelled to answer everything as soon as they get it. The only time I do that is when a client needs something urgently, which is not too often. One must ‘weed out” the unimportant stuff (why watch a you tube on something that does not help you (unless you are taking some time off)), but do not get addicted. I am on the elevator with people and sometimes I say “Are you THAT important”, they sometimes get it, most don’t.

You make some great points here. I think these days that we are finding it harder and harder to cultivate and train ourselves to be disciplined individuals with bucket loads of self control.

The environment we live in is all about “don’t miss out” and “be the first”. Technology feeds that if you let it.

If I need information I will use my desktop PC which means I have to deliberately make the decision to sit in front of it. I say to people the phone is a tool, not a lifestyle.
