I think so, yes. I can’t remember which writer it was, but I once read that he never re-read his journals. Not once. But he kept journaling because it helped him. So if you like to tore up the pages, why not? It’s the act of thinking and writing that matters.

I wanted to make confessions and explore deep personal feelings that contradicted my usual facade. But I found myself writing in view of the person(s) I thought might be reading it when I die. Even If I planned to discard it, I might not get a chance to throw it away before I die. Would it work if I tore up each page right after I wrote it?

I save them and I refer to my journals every month or so to do a review with myself. I also do a yearly review.
